I’ve got this raped, poor little Pearl Sunflower 1200 amp a few months ago. It’s a solid state version of the Fender Twin Reverb amp. Made in Japan during the ’70s. Unfortunatelly someone cut down the cabinet, because (s)he wanted a great soundig head rather than a combo. I think that’s why it missing the reverb tank and visible that speaker cut-out from behind. Otherwise it funcionally great, needed a little cleaning and work, but nothing special. Someday i’ll re-house it and install a better and safety prong plug and of course a huge reverb tank!
Pretty nice sounding amp - and this thing is loud and clean! No need tubes to hear the real thing!
Here is an original one, looks rad!
I bought a Sovtek MIG100h a month ago and than i took it to my tech. Nothing fancy, just a little wiring and bias stuff. It’s basically a hot rodded JCM 800 amp with 6l6 power tubes. Sounds pretty heavy - maybe too raw - it has usable tones, but this amp is not really for me. Too harsh on the Hi input, maybe i’ll try a 12AT7 or a 12AU7 in the V1 position to smooth it a little. Through the Lo input it’s okay, but not really a pedal friendly stuff.
The most annoying thing is the eq section. It’s totally wierd. Can’t imagine why is so good to have a marshall amp or a marshall style tone stack. The pots not working as it labelled, they are out of control.
One trick pony and that trick is nothing special at all - for me. Requires further experiments!
